SHOT UP NORTH AWARDS
I was recently chosen
as a finalist for Shot Up North, an esteemed platform known for spotlighting
outstanding photography beyond London's borders.
Shot Up North has a rich history of
recognising excellence in advertising, design, editorial, and fashion through
its SUN AWARDS. As a first-time participant, it was both surprising and
gratifying to be selected as a finalist, especially considering I was the
youngest and the only student. The judging panel included industry
professionals, including editors from the picture desk at Channel 4.
Their recognition of my work was incredibly validating and encouraging.
The portrait I
submitted was part of my series titled Dressed Up, featuring my niece
dressed as a superhero. Attending the award show in Salford was an eye-opening
experience. It provided me with the opportunity to connect with seasoned
photographers and gain insights into the industry. Their stories and
perspectives were both inspiring and motivating.
More importantly, this
experience has boosted my confidence in my work.
I'm excited to continue exploring and evolving
as a photographer. I'm eager to see where this journey takes me and the stories
I'll have to tell through my lens.
While this recognition
is a significant achievement, it's also a reminder of the importance of
perseverance and dedication in pursuing one's passion. I'm grateful for the
opportunity to share this experience and look forward to the adventures that
lie ahead.
