Ryan Pfluger

Ryan Pfluger’s work is something that I have admired for a long time. Their website is clean and straight to the point, allowing the work to stand out. When landing on Pfluger’s website people are introduced to three image collections with the ability to scroll over to reveal a further three image sets. At the top of their website, you can see the headings “Portfolios”, “Holding Space Book” and “About/ Contact”. Pfluger uses this clean minimal design to allow viewers to easily navigate the site and access the information or images they wish to see.

The website has simple but effective interactions. When scrolling the cursor over the portfolios it reveals the titles for each; this is a simple but useful technique used to encourage the viewer to engage with the portfolios. The portfolios are as follows …. They have straightforward titles that briefly sum up the body of work.

Pfluger’s about/ contact page is another point of interest. The viewer is greeted by an intimate portrait of Pfluger looking into the camera, accompanied underneath with a short bio about him, his education, his photographic journey, and  his approach to making work. Below this is a simple contact form that people can use to get in touch.
